Bike Rental Maipu helps visitors explore Mendoza’s famous Wine Route by bicycle. On this FAQ page you’ll find answers about reservations, payments, wineries, routes, safety and everything you need before your trip.

To rent a bike at Maipú Bikes, you must be at least 18 years old, present a valid ID (passport, national ID or driver’s license), and know how to ride a bicycle.

Yes. An online reservation is required to guarantee availability.

The reservation only secures your bike. Payment is made in person at our office when you arrive.

Making a reservation also allows us to contact you if weather conditions or any unexpected situation requires changes to your booking.

If weather conditions make cycling unsafe, such as heavy rain or strong Zonda winds, the tour may be suspended for safety reasons.

If this happens before your visit, we will contact you as soon as possible to reschedule your reservation for another available date.

If weather conditions change during your visit, our staff will explain the available options and help you choose the safest alternative.

No. We offer a single rental rate that allows you to enjoy the experience at your own pace during our opening hours.

Bikes are available from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the last departure is at 2:30 PM to ensure enough time to complete the route comfortably.

This way, you can visit wineries, restaurants and other attractions without worrying about the time.

Yes. If your bicycle has a mechanical problem during the tour, we provide assistance and, if necessary, replace the bike so you can continue enjoying the experience.

We do not provide transportation from the wineries back to our office. The service only includes mechanical assistance or replacement of the bicycle.

Medical assistance is limited exclusively to emergency coverage within the protected area provided by the corresponding emergency service. In the event of an emergency, the established protocol will be activated.

Medical assistance does not include treatment for illnesses, minor discomfort, or personal situations that are not directly related to an emergency occurring during the tour.

No. For safety reasons, the tour must remain within the Maipú Bikes route.

You may only visit the wineries, restaurants and attractions included on our map.

This route is coordinated with the Tourist Police to help provide a safe experience for all visitors.

There is no fixed duration, as this is a self-guided bike tour and each visitor completes the route at their own pace.

On average, the experience lasts between 4 and 6 hours, depending on how many wineries, restaurants and olive oil tasting venues you visit, how much time you spend at each stop, and whether you choose to enjoy wine tastings or lunch along the way.

Our opening hours are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the latest departure time to begin the tour is 2:30 PM.

We recommend allowing enough time for the experience. Although the distances between locations are relatively short, the total duration depends on your itinerary and how long you decide to stay at each stop.

Payment for your bike rental is made in person at our office.

We accept cash in Argentine pesos, US dollars, euros and Chilean pesos.

You can also pay by debit card, credit card, Mercado Pago or bank transfer. Please note that card payments are subject to the corresponding surcharge.

Most wineries and restaurants along the route accept cash as well as debit and credit cards. Available payment methods may vary depending on each establishment.

No. The route is easy and suitable for most people who know how to ride a bicycle.

Before you start, we provide you with a detailed Wine Route map, safety recommendations, and all the information you need to enjoy the experience at your own pace.

No. For safety reasons, the tour must begin and end exclusively at our office.

Bicycles must be picked up and returned to Maipú Bikes. They cannot be left at wineries, restaurants, or any other location along the route.

Each winery and attraction has a designated bicycle parking area where you can safely leave your bike during your visit. We recommend not leaving personal belongings on the bicycle while you are inside a winery or restaurant.

No. At Maipú Bikes, we only offer self-guided bike tours.

When you pick up your bike, we provide you with a detailed Wine Route map, personalized recommendations, and all the information you need to explore Maipú’s Wine Route safely and at your own pace.

This way, you’re not tied to a group, fixed schedules, or a structured itinerary. You can enjoy each winery, restaurant, and attraction for as long as you like, as long as it is within our opening hours.

All our bicycles are basic 26-inch mountain bikes (MTBs) with gears, specially prepared to provide a comfortable and safe ride along Maipú’s Wine Route.

Our service is designed for leisurely rides between wineries, restaurants, olive oil producers, and local attractions, not for mountain biking or high-performance cycling. The route is mostly flat and includes dedicated bike lanes along much of the way, making these bicycles the ideal choice for the experience.

Before every rental, each bicycle is carefully inspected and maintained by our team to ensure it is in excellent mechanical condition and ready for your ride.

The rental includes a basic 26-inch mountain bike (MTB), a helmet, a detailed Wine Route map, and personalized advice to help you plan your itinerary according to your interests.

Before you begin your ride, we’ll provide recommendations about the route, participating wineries, safety guidelines, and everything you need to enjoy a self-guided experience with confidence.

Our goal is to help you explore Maipú’s Wine Route with complete freedom, safety, and the best local information so you can make the most of your day.

No. At the moment, we only offer basic 26-inch mountain bikes (MTBs) for adults.

We do not have electric bikes (e-bikes), tandem bikes, children’s bicycles, or child seats.

Maipú’s Wine Route includes public roads and dedicated bike lanes alongside the roadway. For safety reasons, we do not recommend that children ride the route, especially if the accompanying adults plan to enjoy wine tastings during the tour.

On average, the route covers around 12 km (7.5 miles). If you choose to complete the entire circuit, the total distance does not exceed 16 km (10 miles).

Maipú’s Wine Route is designed to let you visit wineries, olive oil producers, and other attractions at your own pace, without following a strict schedule.

Although the distances between stops may seem short, we recommend allowing enough time to enjoy each winery and attraction. The total duration of your experience will depend on the wineries you choose to visit, how long you stay at each one, and your riding pace.

No. The bike rental only includes the use of the bicycle and the services provided by Maipú Bikes.

Winery visits, wine tastings, lunches, and any other activities offered by wineries, olive oil producers, or restaurants must be booked and paid for directly at each establishment.

This gives you the freedom to choose which places you would like to visit and how much you want to spend during your experience.

Reservations at wineries that require advance booking must be made directly by each visitor. Maipú Bikes does not make reservations on behalf of our customers.

Each winery has its own opening hours, availability, booking policies, and payment methods, so reservations must be arranged directly with each establishment.

To enjoy the Maipú Wine Route safely, we recommend:

• Always follow the route indicated on the map provided by Maipú Bikes and do not leave the recommended circuit.

• Wear your helmet throughout the entire tour. Helmet use is mandatory under Argentine law.

• Keep your personal belongings and valuables with you at all times. Do not leave them unattended during your visits.

• Ride carefully, obey traffic regulations, and pay special attention when crossing streets and intersections.

• If you use Google Maps, Maps.me, or any other navigation app, ask us beforehand which route is the safest.

• Enjoy wine tastings responsibly. Riding a bicycle under the influence of alcohol is not permitted.

• During the tour, always follow the recommendations and instructions provided by the Maipú Bikes team.

• The Maipú Wine Route is regularly patrolled by the Tourist Police (UPAT), who provide assistance to visitors whenever necessary.

• If you experience any mechanical problem during the tour, contact Maipú Bikes so we can provide assistance.

If you experience a mechanical problem with your bicycle during the tour, contact Maipú Bikes and we will provide assistance as quickly as possible.

If necessary, we will replace the bicycle so you can continue enjoying your experience.

In the event of an emergency during the tour, the appropriate emergency services and the Tourist Police (UPAT) will respond. In all cases, it is important to follow the instructions provided by the Maipú Bikes team to ensure your safety.
