With flexible bicycle rental, choose how long to spend at each stop within the Maipu Bikes recommended circuit. Combine well-known wineries such as Trapiche and La Rural with boutique producers like Alandes, Domiciano, Tempus Alba, Mevi and Viña El Cerno. You can also enjoy olive oil tastings at Entre Olivos or La Melesca and stop for a regional lunch.

You do not have to ride with a tour group or follow a group timetable. Nevertheless, each winery or restaurant has its own opening hours, booking requirements and availability. Maipu Bikes does not book venues on behalf of self-guided bicycle rental customers.

What Is Included in Maipu Wine Bike Experience?

If you prefer a day with key wine and food activities arranged within one experience, Maipu Wine Bike Experience follows a set itinerary of approximately 12–16 km, mostly on flat terrain. It is not a guided group tour: you receive instructions from Maipu Bikes and ride the route independently.

A Personal Welcome Before You Ride

At Maipu Bikes, we believe a good experience starts with clear advice. Our basic 26-inch mountain bikes are suited to Maipú’s mostly flat terrain. As Cristian likes to put it, these are “bikes for drinking wine”: the idea is to enjoy the experience and its stops, not to race.

We help you understand the route, timing and available places to visit. For standard rental, mechanical assistance is offered within the recommended circuit under the service conditions. This assistance is not medical care or a substitute for travel insurance.

What the Maipú Wine Route Really Looks Like

The Maipú Wine Route is not an uninterrupted countryside cycle path. Much of the ride passes through everyday urban areas with local streets, businesses, homes and vehicle traffic. Some sections have cycle lanes, including lanes alongside roads used by cars and other vehicles. Traditional Mendoza irrigation channels, known as acequias, also border some streets and require extra care.

The more rural scenery appears especially around the vineyards, olive groves, estates and wineries. This changing landscape is part of the authentic Maipú experience: you move from the town into places where wine and local food take centre stage. Both Maipu Bikes experiences use public roads, so always stay alert and follow local traffic rules.

Rather than expecting an English-style countryside ride from start to finish, plan for a real wine-producing district with urban sections and rewarding winery stops.

Practical Tips for Safe Cycling and Wine Tasting

Start with a realistic itinerary: allow time for tastings, lunch and the return journey. Visiting fewer places at a relaxed pace is often more enjoyable than trying to fit every winery into one day.

• Expect urban streets, shared roads, cycle lanes and irrigation channels in some areas.
• Bring drinking water, sunscreen and a fully charged phone.
• Check winery opening hours and whether reservations are necessary.
